POWELL, WYOMING – Registration for the 50th annual Showalter Music Festival, scheduled for Saturday, February 1, is now open. The event is open to brass, woodwind, percussion, guitar, vocal, and piano students who are in grades 5-8. The cost per entry is $12 and includes a 6-minute performance slot with brief adjudicator comments for the performers.

School and studio directors are responsible for registering students for the festival. Parents of interested students are asked to coordinate with their school’s music department or private studio director to be added to their registration roster. The deadline to register is Wednesday, January 15, and all related information can be found at northwestmusic.org/showalter-music-festival/.

The Showalter Music Festival, which takes place in the Nelson Performing Arts Building, concludes with an afternoon concert and awards ceremony after all individual performances are complete.

The festival is named in memory of Dr. Victor Showalter, former Professor of Music at Northwest College who started the festival in 1975.
