GEAR UP
Northwest College has held a federal Department of Education GEAR UP grant since 2005. Our current grant began in 2024 and focuses on objectives including ACT achievement, high school graduation, college enrollment, persistence to the second year of college, FAFSA completion, and avoiding remedial classes.

Federal GEAR UP Opportunity Scholarship (Due June 1st)
2024-2025 GEAR UP Wyoming Federal Opportunity Scholarship Application.
The GEAR UP Opportunity Scholarship is for active GEAR UP students who participated under the 2017-2024 GEAR UP Grant. It is $800 per semester and can be used at the post-secondary institution of your choice (institutions must be accredited and eligible to receive federal financial aid).
Requirements:
- You must be eligible to receive federal financial aid.
- You must be under the age of 22 years old when you are first awarded the GU Opportunity Scholarship.
- You must be on track to graduate and receive your high school diploma (or an equivalent) the spring after you apply for the GEAR UP Opportunity Scholarship.
- The school or university you are attending must be eligible to receive federal financial aid (have a federal school code) AND is an accredited post-secondary education institution in the Department of Education’s accreditation database (https://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/).
- You must participate in GEAR UP services offered under the 2017-2024 or 2024-2031 GEAR UP grant.

Encourage is a free comprehensive planning program for college and career success
